Tokyo, August 7, 2012 <\/strong>\u2013 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that it will launch \u201cnasne\u2122,\u201d a networked recorder and media storage device, on August 30, 2012 at a recommended retail price of 16,800 yen (including tax) in Japan. SCE will also release system software update version 1.50 for \u201cnasne\u201d*1, concurrently with the product launch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SCE will concurrently release \u201ctorne\u2122\u201d version 4.1, a dedicated TV application for PlayStation\u00ae3 (PS3\u00ae). By installing \u201ctorne\u201d version 4.1, users will be able to export a recorded digital satellite television program as well as digital terrestrial television stored on \u201cnasne\u201d to PlayStation\u00aeVita (PS Vita) *2, PSP\u00ae (PlayStation\u00aePortable) *3 and Walkman\u00ae*4 via PS3\u00ae *5 to enjoy them on the go across their devices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sony Corporation will also simultaneously release \u201cVAIO TV with nasne\u2122\u201d (beta version) *6, a dedicated application for VAIO PC, as well as an updated verion of \u201cRECOPLA\u201d for easily accessing and using \u201cnasne\u201d on \u201cSony Tablet\u201d*7 . VAIO PC and \u201cSony Tablet\u201d user will be able to directly access \u201cnasne\u201d, and enjoy watching live and recorded digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasts through these applications. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SCE will continue to aggressively expand the new world of entertainment through the combination of \u201cnasne\u201d and PlayStation platforms as well as various other devices and services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  • *1<\/span>By installing system software update version 1.50, users will be able to use \u201cnasne\u201d as a media server in addition to as a networked recorder. This will allow users to share and enjoy their private content including videos, pictures, and music, across a variety of DLNA compatible devices connected to their home network. <\/li>\n
  • *2<\/span>To export recorded television programs, \u201cuke-torne,\u201d a dedicated application for PS Vita to export recorded television programs to PSP\u00ae and PS Vita needs to be installed on PS Vita.<\/li>\n
  • *3<\/span>For PSP\u00ae, version 4.0 allows users to export recorded television programs. \u201ctorne\u201d version 4.1 also allows users to export them to internal flash memory of PSP\u00ae (PlayStation\u00aePortable) go.<\/li>\n
  • *4<\/span>Including \u201cnav-u,\u201d a portable navigation system. For Walkman\u00ae and \u201cnav-u,\u201d please purchase additional content through \u201ctorneya\u201d to support them.   • *5<\/span>Users will be able to export files via \u201ctorne\u201d on PS3 connected to \u201cnasne\u201d within the same home network.<\/li>\n
  • *6<\/span>\u201cVAIO TV with nasne\u201d beta version will become available at the release timing, and no support will be available.<\/li>\n
  • *7<\/span>For \u201cSony Tablet\u201d, \u201cRECOPLA\u201d provided by Sony Corporation will need to be installed on the device. \u201cRECOPLA\u201d will become available through \u201cSelect App\u201d site on \u201cSony Tablet\u201d or Google Play Store for free download. \u201cSony Tablet\u201d system software as well as \u201cMedia players\u201d supporting \u201cRECOPLA\u201d will need to be updated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
