Tokyo, October 9, 2008 <\/strong>\u2013 Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) responsible for business operations in Japan, announced today that it would release \u201cWireless Keypad\u201d (CECHZK1JP) for PLAYSTATION\u00ae3 (PS3\u00ae) and USB supported \u201cAC Adaptor\u201d (CECHZA1 J) for charging PS3 peripherals*1<\/span> on Thursday, December 18th, 2008, in Japan at a recommended retail price of 5,500 yen and 2,800 yen (both including tax), respectively. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This new \u201cWireless Keypad,\u201d designed to fit on both SIXAXIS\u00ae and DUALSHOCK\u00ae3\u3000wireless controllers, offers comfortable text input with the support of roman letter entry for Japanese typing . With this new peripheral, users will be able to input text right in the palm of their hands with out using the on-screen keyboard, and can enjoy text chat on upcoming PS3 titles to be released this holiday seasons including LittleBigPlanet<\/em>, available October 30, 2008, Resistance 2, available November 13, 2008, and SOCOM: CONFRONTATION<\/em> available October 30, 2008*2<\/span>. Users can also enjoy comfortable text chat on services such as PlayStation\u00aeHome scheduled to launch its Open Beta Service within this calendar year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

By utilizing the newly announced \u201cAC Adaptor,\u201d users will be able to charge the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller by simply using the adaptor and without charging it through PS3. Also by adopting two USB ports, it enables users to charge another peripheral such as \u201cWireless Keypad\u201d or \u201cWireless Headset\u201d for PS3 while charging the wireless controller on the other port.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SCEJ will deploy various measures to meet users\u2019 demand and will continue to expand the PS3 platform with enhanced line-up of PS3 systems and peripheral products.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
